A morning antioxidant serum with 20% vitamin C, vitamin E and ferulic acid. The three are combined deliberately: vitamin C is unstable on its own, and vitamin E and ferulic acid both stabilise it and extend how long it keeps working on the skin.
Made at our own facility on Adiyala Road, Rawalpindi, where we have been formulating since 1998.
What is in it, and what each one does
-
Vitamin C 20% — an antioxidant that also slows pigment production, which is why it is used for uneven tone as well as for general protection against daily environmental stress.
-
Vitamin E — an antioxidant in its own right, and it works with vitamin C rather than alongside it.
-
Ferulic acid — the stabiliser. Without it, a vitamin C serum degrades considerably faster.
Why it belongs in the morning
Vitamin C and sunscreen do different jobs that complement each other. Sunscreen blocks UV; an antioxidant mops up some of what gets through. Used together they do more than either alone, which is why we would rather you bought a sunscreen first if you only buy one thing.
How to use it
- Cleanse and dry the face.
- Two to four drops across the face and neck.
- Follow with moisturiser, then sunscreen.
- Morning is ideal. Every day beats occasionally.
Storage matters more with this one
Vitamin C oxidises on exposure to light, air and heat, and that is a real consideration in Pakistani weather. Keep the bottle closed, out of direct sun, and away from a hot bathroom shelf.
The serum will darken over time from pale straw to deeper amber. Slight deepening is normal. If it turns distinctly brown or orange it has oxidised, and at that point it is no longer doing much. Buy a size you will finish.
What to expect, honestly
Three months of consistent use, not three weeks. Vitamin C at this strength can sting slightly on first application, particularly on freshly cleansed or compromised skin. If it stings consistently, use it every other day or apply to dry skin a few minutes after cleansing.
Our comparison of niacinamide versus vitamin C covers which to choose if you are deciding, and what actually works on dark spots sets realistic expectations for pigmentation.
Care
For external use only. Patch test before first use. Avoid the eye area. Stop if irritation persists. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
