Key ingredient: Glutathione 500 mg | Pack size: 30 Tablets
Glutathione is a small protein your body makes itself, built from three amino acids: cysteine, glycine and glutamic acid. It is found in every cell, and it is one of the main antioxidants the body uses to protect cells from oxidative stress. Your liver uses it constantly as part of how it processes what you eat, drink and breathe.
Origlow is our 500mg glutathione tablet, made at our own facility on Adiyala Road, Rawalpindi, where we have been formulating since 1998. The DRAP enlistment number, batch number and expiry date are printed on every pack.
What we will and will not claim
Glutathione is sold in Pakistan with some of the boldest promises in the supplement aisle, usually about skin colour. We are not going to make those promises.
Here is where the evidence stands: some small studies have looked at glutathione and melanin production, results have been mixed, and most trials have been short with few participants. There is no good basis for promising a change in skin colour, so we do not promise one.
What we can tell you is what glutathione is, and that a supplement is a supplement rather than a treatment.
The absorption question, stated honestly
Glutathione taken by mouth is largely broken down in the digestive tract into its component amino acids before it reaches the bloodstream. Researchers have been working on this for years, which is why liposomal and S-acetyl forms exist, and why some formulas instead supply the raw materials the body uses to build its own.
Anyone telling you that swallowing a glutathione tablet straightforwardly raises glutathione in your skin is skipping over an unresolved scientific question. We would rather you knew that before you bought it.
Each tablet contains
Glutathione — 500 mg. Pack size: 30 tablets.
How to take it
- One tablet daily with water, after a meal.
- Do not exceed the stated dose. More is not better with any antioxidant.
- Give it a fair trial period and judge it by how you feel, not against a photograph.
Supporting your own production
Since your body makes glutathione continuously, the things that support that process are unglamorous but real: enough protein in the diet, sulphur-rich vegetables such as garlic, onions, broccoli and cabbage, adequate vitamin C, decent sleep, and less alcohol and smoking.
If your goal is more even-looking skin, the evidence is far stronger for daily sun protection, because pigmentation deepens with UV exposure.
Who should check with a doctor first
- Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Anyone with asthma, as inhaled forms have been reported to trigger symptoms.
- Anyone taking prescription medication, particularly chemotherapy, where antioxidants need medical oversight.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if the safety seal is broken.
Our longer write-up on what the evidence actually says about glutathione goes through the research in more detail.
